DUAN Yu-Ting

Duan Yuting founded Lianzhou Foto festival in 2005 and has been closely involved with the festival’s developments since then. In over ten years, Lianzhou Foto has grown to become an influential platform of discussion for the local and international photography scene. The festival’s long history was celebrated in 2017 with the opening of Lianzhou Museum of Photography (LMP) co-founded by Duan Yuting and French curator François Cheval. The LMP is the country’s first public institution dedicated to the medium, the result of Duan Yuting’s constant strive to promote Contemporary Photography in China. She was recognized as part of the Top Ten Character of Chinese Photography in 2015 and nominated by World Press Photo as a chosen member to follow a three-year Master Course.

 

Author of Ten Years of Contemporary Photography in China 2005-2014, Duan Yuting has been invited to be a jury member, photo reviewer and guest curator by many international photo festivals such as Houston FotoFest, FOTOBILD in Berlin, Paris Photo Biennale, Rhubarb-Rhubarb festival in Birmingham, Kyotographie Festival in Japan, Salonika Photo Biennale in Greece, Landskrona photo Festival in Sweden, Festival de la Luz in Argentina, Young Art Taipei and Moscow Photo Biennale.

 

In the past several years, she has also been a nominator for Prix Pictet Photography Prize, China Photography Awards, Southern Pocket Film Festival,  Houston Fotofest Discovery Award, Photo Vogue Festival Award and the Hasselblad Award.
